MoYu Aochuang WRM 5x5x5 Magnetic

MoYu AoChuang WRM 5x5x5 Magnetic is the magnetic version of the 5x5 cube from the WR M series. MoYu released it in 2020 as a major update to its 5x5 line. Compared with the original AoChuang, it has factory-installed magnets built into the pieces and a new mechanism. At 61.5 mm, it is slightly smaller than many 63 mm 5x5 cubes. On a cube this size, even a 1-2 mm difference is clearly noticeable in your hands, especially when turning the outer layers quickly.

How the AoChuang WRM 5x5 turns

The cube is fast and very smooth (buttery). Even so, it doesn't feel jumpy, because it's fairly easy to control. The magnets are medium strength. They help the layers snap into place, but they don't slow your turns down or tire your fingers during long sessions. Corner cutting is very good, which is especially useful in the final 3x3 stage. Users also praise the inner layers, which rarely catch. The exception is very aggressive turning, which can cause lockups on the middle layers. This is typical for a 5x5, but with more accurate turning it rarely happens on this cube.

Tension adjustment

Tension is adjusted with screws in the centers, using the screwdriver included in the set. This means you can set the cube looser to make it faster, or tighter to make it more stable. The factory lube is fairly light. Many people replace it after a few days with a lube that suits their preferences.

Who is it for?

This cube is best suited to people who practice timed 5x5 solves and want a fast, magnetic cube they can keep under control. It also makes sense for someone moving from 4x4 to 5x5 who doesn't want to struggle with an unpredictable cube right away. MoYu later released the AoChuang V6, but the WRM is still a solid, well-refined cube for regular practice. For a child who is just learning to solve the 5x5, a simpler and cheaper model will be enough.
