MoYu AoChuang V6 5x5 (Single-Track)

The sixth generation of MoYu's flagship 5x5 and the successor to the AoChuang WR M. It has a new mechanism and a different magnet layout. MoYu AoChuang V6 5x5 Single-Track is the base version of this cube: magnetic, with a matte (frosted) surface without UV coating, in the stickerless bright colour scheme. The mechanism is the same as in the more expensive variants, but the magnets are in a single track only.

What does Single-Track mean?

The AoChuang V6 comes in several versions that differ in their magnet layout. Single-Track has 96 magnets between the corners and the edges. This magnet system is now standard in speedcubes. The Double-Track version has 112 magnets plus a magnetic Ball-Core, which means magnets in the centre of the cube that help align the layers. Triple-Track has 160 magnets, as it adds magnets between the edges as well. The extra tracks give a stronger magnetic feel and more stability. Single-Track has no Ball-Core, so the layers move more freely, and the cube itself is noticeably cheaper.

How it turns

User reviews repeatedly say the cube is smooth and fast while staying stable. Corner cutting is good, and the springs make almost no noise. During fast turning the magnets don't cause noticeable "snapping", but they help you finish a layer when you slow down. Some people also praise the matte plastic straight out of the box and its good grip. MoYu widened the outer layers to improve stability and improved the protection against pops. The pieces have a "dragon scale" texture designed to reduce friction. Some reviewers feel the AoChuang needs slightly more precise turning than some competing 5x5s, so give yourself a moment to get used to it at first.

Who is it for?

It's a good cube if you want to buy your first proper magnetic 5x5 or upgrade from an older model without paying for a Ball-Core version. Experienced cubers who like a strong magnetic feel and maximum stability should consider the Double-Track or Triple-Track. The 60.5 mm size is roughly standard for a 5x5, so the cube sits comfortably in the hand, even if you have smaller hands.
