MoYu Competition Mat

MoYu Competition Mat is a long, blue speedcubing mat measuring approx. 86 x 32 cm. Its elongated shape lets you place a timer at one end and still leaves the rest for solving. You put your cube down on a soft surface instead of the bare tabletop, so it gets fewer scratches and knocks. Your table is protected too, and the cube doesn't slide around when you set it down to stop the timer.

The mat has holes for attaching a MoYu timer. The timer is not included and must be purchased separately. Check which timer you have before you buy. According to distributor information, the mat is not compatible with Speed Stacks Gen3 and Gen4 timers. You also can't attach a Gen5 timer or the GAN Smart Timer to it. With these timers, you can only use it as a regular pad without attaching the timer.

Size and use

The 86 cm length works well on long tables, for example at competitions or when practicing with several cubes at once. On a small desk the mat may be too long, so it's worth measuring your desk before buying. The mat is approx. 2 mm thick. It's fairly thin, so it lies flat and doesn't get in the way when you're writing or working at a computer. Many users also use it as a large mouse and keyboard pad.

MoYu also offers the smaller MoYu Cube Mat (approx. 50 x 36 cm), which fits more easily on a desk. Choose the Competition Mat if you simply need plenty of space.

Who is it for?

For cubers who practice with a MoYu timer and want it permanently attached to the mat. The mat is also handy if you're simply looking for a large pad that protects your cubes and tabletop. It's a great addition to a first cube, including for kids, as it protects the table and the cubes take fewer knocks. If you use a Speed Stacks Gen4 or Gen5 timer and want to attach it, this mat won't be a good choice.
