A robot-shaped cube box from MoFangJiaoShi (Cubing Classroom), MoYu's budget brand. The Cube Robot Box holds a 2x2 or 3x3 cube. The cube becomes the robot's head and stays visible through a transparent cover. You can use the box to store your cube and to display it on your desk or shelf. The cube is not included.

How the robot box works

To put the cube in, you remove the transparent window at the front of the head. The window snaps shut, so the cube doesn't fall out, and the colors are visible from all sides. The box protects the cube from dust. According to user reviews, it doesn't open by itself.

The robot's arms move up and down, and its legs bend by 90 degrees, so the figure can stand or sit. You can connect several robots with snap fittings and stack them on top of each other, standing or sitting. If you have several cubes at home, you get a small, poseable collection instead of cubes lying loose on the shelf.

Which cubes fit?

This version of the robot is designed for 2x2 and 3x3 cubes up to about 56 mm. In practice, it fits most 3x3 speed cubes, which are usually 55-56 mm, as well as typical 2x2 cubes. According to users, the slightly larger classic Rubik's cube and bigger puzzles such as the Mirror 2x2 will not fit. So check the size of your cube before you buy. For 4x4 and 5x5 cubes, MoYu offers a separate, larger version of the robot.

Who is it for?

Mainly for kids and parents who want the cube to have its own place. The robot also works well as an add-on to a gift with a first 2x2 or 3x3 cube. An older cuber can keep their favorite main in it next to the timer and mat. Keep in mind that the figure is noticeably larger than the cube itself. For carrying in your pocket or backpack to competitions, a regular cube bag is a better choice.
