The second-generation MeiLong 12x12 in a magnetic version with Ball-Core. It measures just 75 mm and weighs about 307 g. Magnets in the pieces and in the core help align all 12 layers and reduce lockups. Matte finish, stickerless bright colour scheme.

MeiLong is MoYu's budget line, and its 12x12 has now reached its second generation. The MoYu MeiLong 12x12 V2 M Core-Ball is the magnetic version of this cube, with a magnetic Ball-Core. The first MeiLong 12x12 measured about 93 mm and had no magnets. The V2 has shrunk to 75 mm, which makes it smaller than many 11x11 cubes. The M version weighs about 307 g, compared with about 533 g that sellers list for the first generation. The cube is stickerless, in a bright colour scheme with a matte finish.
On a big cube, most of your time usually goes into fighting misaligned layers. With 12 layers, small offsets quickly turn into lockups and catching. This version uses two positioning systems:
Tension is adjusted the classic way, with screws. There are no swappable springs and no compression system like on flagship 3x3 cubes. For a cube of this size, that's normal.
Both versions share the same 75 mm size and the same base. The non-magnetic version is a few dozen grams lighter and turns more freely, but it requires more careful layer alignment. The M version with Ball-Core is heavier and has a more defined, more "together" feel. In practice, it is more forgiving of less precise moves, which matters a lot on a 12x12 cube.
For anyone who already solves bigger cubes, such as 6x6 or 7x7, and wants to try a 12x12 without buying a flagship cube straight away. It works well as a first 12x12, because the small size and the magnets help you handle that many layers. Complete beginners are better off starting with 3x3 and 4x4. Solving a 12x12 is based on the same methods, it just takes much longer.
