MoYu Meilong 3x3x3 M V2 Lite

MoYu Meilong 3x3x3 M V2 Lite is an affordable 3x3 magnetic cube from the MFJS (MoYu Cubing Classroom) line. It has the same mechanism as the regular matte Meilong 3M V2. The only difference is what comes in the box: the Lite version has no extras, such as the tension adjustment screwdriver. If you only care about the cube itself, it's simply a cheaper way to get a Meilong 3M V2.

How it turns

Straight out of the box, the Meilong 3M V2 turns lightly and quickly, and the feel is smooth. The magnets help the layers settle into place, so the cube feels less "floaty" than non-magnetic models in the same price range. According to user reviews, the magnets are on the weaker side, and corner cutting is decent but doesn't match more expensive cubes. With a very loose setup, popping may occur. Keep the price in mind, though: for this money, it's still a cube you can practice on properly and use to improve your times.

Design and tension adjustment

• Factory-installed magnets. No gluing or disassembly needed.
• Dragonscale: specially shaped contact surfaces on the edges and corners, designed to help spread the lube.
• Screw-based tension adjustment. The Lite set doesn't include a tool, so you'll need a small screwdriver to change the setup.

Lite or standard?

The cube is the same in both versions. The standard version comes with extras in the box, the Lite version doesn't. If you already have a screwdriver and use online tutorials to learn how to solve the cube, the Lite version is all you need.

Who is it for?

It's a great first magnetic cube for a child or an adult who is just learning to solve. It also works well as a backup cube for school, for your backpack, or for anyone who wants to see if speedcubing is for them before buying a more expensive model. Speedcubers looking for stronger magnets and better corner cutting should rather consider a mid-range cube.
