A magnetic 8x8 cube with Ball-Core from MoYu. It has 208 magnets and 8 magnets in the core, and at 65.5 mm it is 3.5 mm smaller than the previous generation. It weighs approx. 188 g and features a matte stickerless finish and screw tension adjustment.

This is the third generation of MoYu's budget Meilong 8x8 series, which is also sold under the MFJS brand. The MoYu Meilong 8x8 V3 M Core-Ball is the fully magnetic version. It has magnets in the pieces and a Ball-Core, which means magnets in the central ball. It is 3.5 mm smaller than the previous generation and now measures 65.5 mm. We offer it in the stickerless bright colour scheme with a matte finish.
With eight layers, it's easy to end up with slightly misaligned layers that block your next turns. Magnets in the edges and corners help the layers settle in the right place, so the cube "aligns itself" after each move. The Ball-Core works at a deeper level: 8 magnets in the ball interact with the magnets in the corners and stabilise the whole mechanism during fast wide moves. As a result, you should get fewer lockups and need to fix layers less often at high TPS. The manufacturer also mentions rounded piece edges and a design that copes better with inaccurate turns.
Size matters a lot with big cubes. At 65.5 mm and 188 g, this 8x8 sits comfortably in your hands. Wide moves are easier, and your hands get less tired during long sessions. Tension is adjusted with screws in the core, so you can set the cube looser for speed or tighter for control.
The Meilong 8x8 V3 is also available in a non-magnetic version. It is lighter (approx. 172 g) and noticeably cheaper, but it has no magnets and no Ball-Core. It may be enough for your first try at 8x8. If you solve regularly and care about stability and faster times, you'll clearly feel the benefits of the M version.
For cubers who have already mastered 6x6 or 7x7 and want to move on to 8x8. It's also a good choice if you want to replace an older or larger 8x8 with a compact magnetic cube. An 8x8 isn't a good choice as a child's first cube - it's better to start with a 3x3.
