MoYu Meilong M Competition Set

The MoYu Meilong M Competition Set gives you four magnetic cubes from the Meilong M series, from 2x2 to 5x5, plus a timer and a mat. It's everything you need to start solving against the clock without putting your gear together piece by piece. The Meilong series (also labelled MFJS) is MoYu's budget line. These cubes don't compete with flagship models, but they turn smoothly, come with factory-installed magnets and work well when you're just starting out.

Meilong M cubes in practice

The magnets help a layer settle into place after each turn, so the cube gets stuck between positions less often and solving feels more predictable than on a regular cube without magnets. You can change the tension with the screwdriver included in the set: looser if you prefer faster turning, or tighter if you want more control. What you won't find here are the features of more expensive cubes, such as MagLev, Ball-Core or magnet strength adjustment. Once you start training 3x3 seriously, sooner or later you'll want a higher-end cube. But for learning methods, from your first solve through reduction on 4x4 to your first 5x5, the Meilongs are more than enough.

Timer and mat

The timer attaches to the mat, so neither of them slides around, and timing works much like at competitions: you start and stop with your hands placed on the sensors. The mat also protects your cubes from scratches and makes them easier to pick up from the table.

For beginner and intermediate cubers who want to practise all sizes from 2x2 to 5x5 right away and track their times. This set also makes a great gift for a child who has taken a liking to the puzzle cube. If you already have a timer and a mat, the Meilong M cube set without accessories is all you need.
