MoYu released this limited edition to celebrate the brand's 18th anniversary. The MoYu Super Weilong V2 AI 18th Anniversary is a Bluetooth smart 3x3 cube built on the flagship Super Weilong V2 with MagLev and a magnetic Ball-Core. It differs from the regular V2 AI in its looks and what comes in the box: it has a transparent interior, a commemorative box and a collector's card. It comes in a bright stickerless colour scheme with a UV-coated surface.

How it turns

Reviews of the Super Weilong V2 are very consistent. The cube is fast and smooth, yet it stays controllable. Corner cutting gets the most praise. Users point out that the V2 handles inaccurate turns better than the first version and catches less often. Some reviews also note that auto-alignment is rather weak. In the AI version, the cube contains sensors and a battery, and the core has 8 magnets instead of the 20 in the non-electronic version. So the feel may differ slightly from the standard V2.

MagLev, Ball-Core and adjustment

• MagLev. Instead of springs, the layers are held together by repelling magnets, so there is less friction when you turn.
• 8-magnet Ball-Core. The magnets in the core help align the layers and keep the cube stable during fast turning.
• 8 levels of tension and 8 levels of compression, so you can set the cube up more for speed or more for control.
• Corner magnet strength adjustment. You change the strength of all magnets in a given corner at once, without adjusting each one separately.

Smart features

The cube connects to a phone app via Bluetooth. The app tracks your moves in real time, times your solves and shows solve statistics, making it easier to analyse your own solves and see where you lose time. The battery is built in and is recharged, so there are no cells to replace.

Who is it for?

For cubers who want to train with a smart cube without giving up a flagship-class mechanism. The 18th Anniversary edition makes the most sense for MoYu collectors and anyone who likes the transparent interior. In terms of features, it is the same cube as the Super Weilong V2 AI. If you just want to solve without the app, the regular Super Weilong V2, with its stronger 20-magnet Ball-Core, is all you need.
