MoYu Timer V2

MoYu Timer V2 is the second generation of MoYu's simple speedcubing timer. It measures time to 0.001 s, calculates your Ao5 average automatically and remembers your last few results. It doesn't connect to an app and needs no setup. Just put it on your desk or mat and start practicing right away. It comes in white.

How the timer works

You start and stop the time with your hands on the touch pads, just like with the timers used at competitions. MoYu uses thermal motion sensing pads here, which react to the touch of your hands. This way, start and stop follow the movement of your hands rather than the press of a button. Some users report that they sometimes need to touch the pads a second time to stop the time. This usually depends on how your hands land on the pads, so at first it's a good idea to check which hand position works best for you.

Ao5 and saving results

After each solve you press reset and the timer saves the result. It stores up to 5 most recent times and uses them to calculate your Ao5, the average of five solves. This is the format used for results at competitions, which is why Ao5 shows how consistent your solving is better than a single time does. Five results in memory are enough for one session, but to track your progress over weeks, a notebook or spreadsheet will come in handy.

Timer V2 or a smart model?

MoYu also offers Bluetooth timers that connect to an app, save your full solve history and show statistics. Timer V2 doesn't have these features and isn't designed for them. It's a device for people who simply want to measure their time and see their average, without a phone next to the mat. It works well for beginners or as an affordable backup timer or one to take with you.
