QiYi 3x3 Magic Clock

QiYi 3x3 Magic Clock

QiYi 3x3 Magic Clock is a magnetic Clock-type puzzle from QiYi. Some shops sell it as the QiYi Triangle Clock. It works on the same principle as the classic Clock: you press the pins and turn the wheels until every clock points to 12. The difference is the layout. Instead of 18 clock faces, 9 wheels and 4 pins, it has a triangular layout with six clock faces, three wheels and three pins. It comes in two colour versions: Blue and Pink.

How it differs from a regular Clock

With fewer parts, it's easier to understand how the pins link the individual clocks together. This makes it simpler to solve than a standard Clock. It works well as an introduction to this type of puzzle or as a fun twist for someone who already knows the regular Clock. However, this is not the puzzle used in the Clock event at WCA competitions. To train for competitions, you need the standard QiYi Clock.

Mechanism

The mechanism is fully magnetic. Magnets help the hands stop exactly on each hour, so overshooting is less likely and you don't have to fix faces that stopped between hours. The wheels and pins move smoothly, and the whole puzzle weighs only about 82 g and sits comfortably in your hands.

Who is it for?

For anyone who wants to try something other than cubes, for Clock fans looking for a new variant and for collectors of QiYi puzzles. Its simple layout makes it a great gift for a child who enjoys puzzles. You don't need to know any speedcubing algorithms to solve it.
