QiYi Fluffy 3x3

QiYi Fluffy 3x3 is a QiYi puzzle that differs from a regular 3x3 cube only in the shape of its outer pieces. It works just like a classic cube: it has 6 faces and 3 layers on each axis, and you solve it the same way. The pieces have an unusual, "fluffy" profile, which is where the name comes from. Some distributors sell this model as the QiYi Petal 3x3x3. The cube was released in 2020.

How it solves

The mechanism and the rules are the same as in a standard 3x3 cube. If you can solve a regular cube, even with the beginner's layer-by-layer method, you can solve the Fluffy too. You don't need to learn any new algorithms. What changes is the look and how the cube sits in your hands. It isn't a model for breaking records. It's a twist on the classic 3x3 for anyone who wants something different from a regular cube.

You set the tension with adjustment screws, so you can loosen the cube slightly or tighten it if it feels too loose.

Who is it for?

The Fluffy works well as another cube for your collection or as a gift for someone who already solves the 3x3 and wants something less typical. It's also a good fit for a child who enjoys brain teasers, because it looks different from a regular cube but solves the same way. You can't use it in competitions, because a shape-modded cube is not allowed in official competitions. For competition training, a standard 3x3 speed cube is a better choice.

The cube comes in two versions: Black (black body) and Stickerless Bright (coloured stickerless plastic in bright colours). Both versions have the same shape and mechanism.
