QiYi M Pro 3x3 Maglev Ball-Core UV

This is the most feature-packed version of the first-generation M Pro series. The QiYi M Pro 3x3 Maglev Ball-Core UV is a budget magnetic cube with features that used to appear mainly in more expensive models. It has MagLev instead of classic springs, core magnets, extra repulsion magnets in the edges and a glossy UV coating. In our shop it is available in the stickerless bright version.

How it turns

The cube is fast right out of the box. Turning feels smooth with a slightly "clicky" character, and corner cutting is good. Users describe the magnets as medium strength. If the cube feels too fast, you can usually loosen it, tighten the compression and use a thicker lube to get more control.

Reviewers point out two things. The first is weight: because of the large number of magnets, the cube is noticeably heavier than the standard M Pro and many competing cubes of this size. The second is that it is a bit louder than some rivals. If you prefer light and quiet cubes, this version may not suit you.

MagLev, Ball-Core and tension adjustment

• MagLev is a system in which the springs in the core are replaced with repelling magnets. This makes turning lighter and faster.
• Ball-Core means magnets between the corners and the core. They help the layers align and keep the cube stable during fast turning.
• Edge repulsion means extra repulsion magnets in the edges. Neither the Standard version nor the plain MagLev version has this feature.
• Dual-adjustment is an 11-setting adjustment system that works without a tool.

Which M Pro version?

The Standard version has classic springs and a matte surface. The MagLev version adds magnetic levitation, but it is still matte and has no core magnets. The Ball-Core UV adds core magnets, edge repulsion magnets and a high-grip UV coating. It is the most stable of the three, but also the heaviest. QiYi later released the M Pro V2 and V3 in Pioneer versions. These are separate, lighter designs, so check which generation you are choosing.

Who is it for?

For anyone who wants MagLev, core magnets and UV coating without buying a flagship. It works well as a first serious speedcubing cube or as the main cube for an intermediate cuber. If very low weight matters to you, consider the newer M Pro generations instead.
