QiYi M Pro Pyraminx Flagship

The QiYi M Pro Pyraminx Flagship is a magnetic Pyraminx from the M Pro series. QiYi sells it in two versions: Flagship and Pioneer UV. Despite its name, the Flagship is the basic, more affordable version. It has magnets in the pieces, classic springs and a matte surface. The name doesn't say so, but it has no MagLev and no core magnets. Those features are reserved for the more expensive Pioneer UV. The puzzle comes in a stickerless bright colour scheme, so there are no stickers to wear off or peel.

How it turns

The magnets in the pieces give a noticeable "click" with every move and help each layer settle into the right position. For beginners, this means fewer misaligned layers. At higher turning speeds, it means fewer lockups. The large, rounded pieces are designed to make corner cutting easier, and grooves on the contact surfaces reduce friction so the pieces don't "stick" to each other while turning. The springs give more classic, predictable behaviour than MagLev, which gives the Pioneer version its lighter, faster turning.

Adjustment

You can adjust the puzzle in two ways. The first is 11 levels of spring compression, which controls how firmly the layers are pressed against the core. The second is tension adjustment, which you set with the screws. A tighter setup gives you more control and stability, while a looser one gives faster turning and freer corner cutting. As with most puzzles, treat the factory settings as a starting point.

Flagship or Pioneer UV?

The Pioneer UV has a glossy UV coating with stronger grip, MagLev instead of springs, and core magnets that align the layers more clearly. It is also slightly heavier. The Flagship has frosted plastic with medium grip that doesn't show fingerprints. If you simply want a good magnetic Pyraminx without paying extra for MagLev and core magnets, the Flagship is a safe choice.
