QiYi Magnetic Pro 3x3 V2 Pioneer UV

Pioneer UV is the better-equipped version of the QiYi Magnetic Pro 3x3 V2. Online, this model is more often called the M Pro V2. Compared with the basic Flagship version, it adds three things: MagLev instead of springs, a magnetic Ball-Core and a glossy UV coating. Price-wise it is still in QiYi's budget range, but the technology matches much more expensive flagships. In our shop the cube is available in the stickerless bright colour scheme.

How it turns

Turning is light and fast, and the layers settle into place with a clear "click". According to reviews and customer feedback, the feel is smooth and the corner cutting is snappy: the cube gets through cut corners easily without catching. The core-to-corner magnets give strong help with aligning the layers. Some customers even say the auto-alignment is stronger here than in more expensive models. This makes the cube easy to control during slower, precise solving too. If you like a very loose cube with weak magnets, you may find it too "controlled". In that case, loosen the settings or consider the Flagship version.

MagLev, Ball-Core and adjustment

• MagLev. Instead of classic springs, the layers are held by repelling magnets. This gives lighter and faster turning.
• Ball-Core with core-to-corner magnets. Magnets in the core attract the corners. This stabilizes the cube during fast turning and helps the layers line up.
• Dual adjustment with 11 settings. You adjust tension and compression separately, without a key or screwdriver.
• UV Coated. The glossy coating gives a good grip and protects the surface from scratches.

Pioneer UV or Flagship?

Both versions are 55.5 mm and have the same 11-setting system. The Flagship has regular springs, no core magnets and a matte (frosted) surface. It is also noticeably lighter. Thanks to MagLev, the Pioneer UV turns faster, and thanks to the Ball-Core it feels more stable. If you want the full set of M Pro V2 technologies, choose the Pioneer. The Flagship is a good choice if you prefer springs and a matte finish.

Who is it for?

For anyone who already has a first cube and wants to try MagLev and Ball-Core without buying an expensive flagship. Speedcubers will find it useful as an affordable practice or backup cube. The strong layer alignment also helps those whose turning is not yet very precise.
