This is an enlarged version of the Pyraminx from the QiMing series. The QiYi QiMing Plus Pyraminx has an edge length of approx. 27.5 cm, so it is about the size of a basketball. Despite its size, you can solve it normally: the moves and algorithms are the same as on a regular Pyraminx. We offer it in the stickerless version with a bright colour scheme (Stickerless Bright).

How does a big Pyraminx turn?

According to user reviews, the QiMing Plus turns smoothly for its size. It is not just a decoration that happens to turn. Keep in mind, though, that the puzzle weighs over half a kilogram. You need both hands to turn it, and turning is slower than on a regular Pyraminx. Fingertricks and times you know from the standard size are out of the question here. This is a puzzle for solving just for fun, for demonstrating moves and for your collection.

What is it good for?

• Teaching and demonstrations. The large pieces are clearly visible from several metres away, so it is easy to show a group how a particular move or algorithm works, e.g. in a school class or at a club.
• Collection. On a shelf next to a giant 3x3 or other large puzzles, it looks great and catches the eye right away.
• Gift. For someone who already solves the Pyraminx, it is a completely different puzzle than yet another speedcube. Because of its size and weight, it is more comfortable to solve on a table or on your lap than to hold in your hands.

Plus or standard QiMing?

For speedcubing and practice before competitions, a standard QiMing, e.g. the S2 or S3, will be a better choice. It is normal-sized and allows fast turning. The Plus version makes sense for people who want a big Pyraminx that is still handy enough to solve comfortably. The series also includes the QiMing Plus Max with an edge of approx. 56 cm and a weight of approx. 3.5 kg. That is a separate, magnetic model, not this puzzle.
