QiYi Training Mat - Player One

QiYi Training Mat - Player One

QiYi Training Mat - Player One is a black-and-white speedcubing training mat from QiYi (MoFangGe). It has a cartoon print of the mascot GeGe, the little character from QiYi cube boxes, shown here solving cubes. The mat measures approx. 49 x 30 cm. That's enough room for a timer, with space left for your hands and for putting your cube down.

What's new in the second generation

Player One belongs to QiYi's newer series of mats. The biggest change is how the timer is attached: the button holes are smaller, so the buttons sit more securely and are easier to fit. When the timer is attached to the mat, it doesn't slide around as you place your hands on the sensors and lift them at the start. When you train with a timer, this small detail really matters.

An everyday mat for your cube and timer

On the soft mat, your cube doesn't knock against the desk. If it slips out of your hands during fast turning, it lands on a soft surface instead of a hard desk. The mat also gives you a fixed practice spot, so every timer session feels the same. The set includes a carry bag, so you can easily take the mat to a cubing meetup or to school, and two buttons for attaching your timer.

Timers compatible with the mat

• MoYu Timer
• QiYi Timer
• YJ Timer
• YuXin Timer
• Speed Stacks Gen4
• Speed Stacks Gen3

Planning to buy a newer timer that isn't on this list? Check first whether it uses a similar attachment. The Speed Stacks G5 and GAN Smart Timer use a different attachment, and according to available information they can't be attached to this mat.

Who is it for?

Player One is a good choice if you're starting to time your solves regularly, or if you're a cuber who wants a proper, permanent training setup. It's also a great gift for a child who solves cubes, as the GeGe print has a clearly playful look. If you prefer a plain, understated mat, keep in mind that the design covers a large part of the surface.
