QiYi Warrior 2x2 M is a budget magnetic 2x2 cube from the Warrior series. QiYi designed this series for people who want to start with a magnetic cube without spending a lot of money. The letter "M" means the cube has magnets. The line also includes the cheaper non-magnetic Warrior 2x2 and the M UV version with a glossy coating. We offer the stickerless bright variant, which has no stickers and is made of coloured plastic.

How it turns

The magnets are weak. They help the layers settle into place and reduce overshooting, but they don't slow your turns down. Turning is light and smooth, and the cube performs well right out of the box. Opinions on corner cutting are mixed: some people praise it, while others find the cube less forgiving of imprecise turns. Some buyers also report that it comes over-lubed from the factory. In that case, a few days of solving or wiping the pieces is enough to break it in. With very aggressive turning, it could use more stability. If you like the distinct "click" of strong magnets, you may find the Warrior too soft.

Matte or UV?

The M version has matte (frosted) plastic with medium grip. The Warrior 2x2 M UV has a glossy coating that grips your fingers more firmly. According to available data, it is also a few grams heavier. It mainly comes down to which surface you prefer in your hands. The non-magnetic version works better as a spare cube than for learning speedsolving.

Who is it for?

For people starting out with 2x2 or switching from a regular non-magnetic cube. It is also a sensible choice as a child's first cube and as a budget cube for travel. A speedcuber who trains 2x2 regularly will sooner or later want something more stable, with stronger magnets and tension adjustment, for example from QiYi's higher-end range.
