QiYi Warrior 6x6

This is the basic version of the 6x6 from the QiYi Warrior series. It has no magnets, a frosted surface and a stickerless bright color scheme. The QiYi Warrior 6x6 measures 60.5 mm and weighs approx. 127 g, so it's small and light for a 6x6 cube. That makes it easier to hold, and your hands get less tired during longer solves.

Mechanism

• One-piece core. The center of the cube is a single part, which makes the structure more rigid.
• Widened outer layers. They are meant to give you better control when turning the outer layers, which are the hardest to handle on big cubes.
• Anti-stick grooves. They reduce friction between the pieces, so turning feels crisper and the cube catches less often.
• Rounded corners. In the series descriptions, the manufacturer mentions larger chamfers on the outside to improve corner cutting, and smaller ones inside the cube for more stability.

How it turns

Without magnets, the layers don't snap into place on their own, so you have to keep them aligned yourself. If your turning isn't precise, lockups happen more often. With fast, uneven turning, big non-magnetic cubes are also more prone to popping than their magnetic counterparts. Users rate the turning well for a cube without magnets. Some say, however, that the Warrior is harder to control. They also mention a slightly slippery surface and fairly small centers, which take a little getting used to.

How is it different from other Warrior 6x6 versions?

The series also includes magnetic versions. They have 192 magnets in two layers (120 outer and 72 inner), which noticeably help with aligning the layers. The Magnetic version has a frosted finish, while the Magnetic UV has a glossy UV coating that gives a better grip. There is also a PiCube variant with magnets in the core and a UV coating. The non-magnetic version is the lightest and simplest in design. However, it doesn't give you the stability and distinct "click" of the magnetic versions.

Who is it for?

For anyone who wants to get started with a 6x6 cube and learn the reduction method without spending a lot. It also works well as a 6x6 for casual solving or as a first big cube for a child who has already mastered smaller cubes. If you want to train for time and improve your results, choose the magnetic version. On a big cube, magnets make a big difference.
