A standard Clock has 9 dials on each side and 4 wheels. The SengSo 3x3 Magnetic Clock V2 by ShengShou is a simplified variant: each side has 6 dials, which you turn using 3 wheels. The goal is the same as with the classic Clock: set all the hands on both sides to 12 o'clock. V2 is a refreshed version of the 3x3 magnetic clock with a redesigned internal structure and a new magnetic positioning system.

How it differs from a regular Clock

The principle stays the same. The pin settings decide which dials turn together when you rotate a wheel. However, there are fewer dials and wheels, so solves are shorter and it's easier to understand how the mechanism works. This model works well as your first experience with the Clock or as a fun variation if you already know the standard version.

This is not an official WCA event puzzle. If you want to practise Clock for competitions, you need the standard version with 9 dials per side and 4 wheels.

What's new in V2

• Magnetic positioning. Magnets help each position settle into place, and every move ends with a noticeable click. This makes it easier to avoid a dial stopping between hours.
• Redesigned internal structure. According to the manufacturer, it is meant to reduce jamming of the mechanism while turning.
• Ridged wheels. Grooves on the wheels improve grip, so your fingers slip less when turning fast.
• Glossy finish of the casing.

How it turns

This variant is much less popular than the standard Clock, and reliable reviews of the 3x3 V2 itself are hard to find so far. That's why we don't promise any specific feel. We only describe what follows from the design. The most important difference compared with non-magnetic clocks is the clear "snapping" of positions into place.

For anyone who wants to start their Clock journey with a simpler version, and for collectors of unusual variants. It's also a sensible gift for a child who already knows the 3x3 cube and wants to try a puzzle that works on a different principle. If you're thinking about competing, go straight for the standard Clock.
