SengSo 5x5 Magnetic Clock V2

SengSo 5x5 Magnetic Clock V2 is a bigger and harder version of the classic Clock from ShengShou. The same model is also sometimes sold as the Pentagram Clock. Instead of 9 dials and 4 pins per side, it has 11 dials and 5 pins on each side, and you turn the dials with five wheels placed around the edge. The pentagon-based layout creates different relationships between the dials than on the 3x3 Clock, so the algorithms you know don't carry over to it directly.

How the 5x5 Clock works

The principle is the same as on a regular Clock. The pin settings (pushed in from one side or the other) determine which dials turn together when you turn a wheel. The puzzle is solved when all dials on both sides point to 12 o'clock. With 22 dials and 5 pins, you need to plan more steps than on the 3x3 version. If you haven't solved a regular Clock yet, it's usually easier to start with that one.

What's new in V2

• Improved magnetic positioning. Magnets set the dials to each successive hour, so every turn ends with a noticeable "click". The hands don't stop between hours.
• Redesigned magnetic columns, which according to the manufacturer stabilise the movement and give clearer feedback when turning.
• Grooved wheels that slip less under your fingers.
• Rounded corners that make the larger body more comfortable to hold.

Who is it for?

Mainly for those who already solve the 3x3 Clock and want something more challenging, and for collectors of unusual puzzles. It's a puzzle for solving for fun and training logical thinking, not competition gear. The 5x5 Clock is not a WCA event - only the classic 3x3 Clock is held officially.
