SengSo Crazy 4x4 V3

SengSo Crazy 4x4 V3 is a 4x4 cube from ShengShou with a circular cut in the middle of each face. The shape stays cubic, but you solve it differently from a regular 4x4. The pieces inside the circle form a separate ring that does not turn together with the face. Because of this, with every move you have to keep track of two things: what happens to the outer part of the face, and where the ring is at that moment.

How V3 differs from V1 and V2

The versions in the Crazy 4x4 series differ in how many pieces fit inside the circle. V1 has 4 pieces, V2 has 12, and V3 has as many as 16. In V3 the circle also includes pieces of the outer layer, so there are many more parts to keep track of. Owners of the earlier versions point out that solving V3 is not the same as solving V2. The V2 method won't fully work here, so you'll need to work out a new approach. Among the ShengShou Crazy 4x4 cubes, this is usually considered the hardest version.

How it solves

The cube has no magnets and no tension adjustment system. It's a puzzle for figuring things out, not a cube for setting times. What matters is understanding how the ring behaves relative to the rest of the face, while high TPS makes no difference here. It's great for relaxed solving and as a challenge once you've mastered a regular 4x4. The colour scheme is stickerless bright, so there are no stickers that could wear off or peel.

Who is it for?

For someone who solves a 4x4 comfortably and wants something harder than yet another model from the same category. Especially for those who have already tackled the Crazy 4x4 V1 or V2 and are looking for the next step in the series. For a first 4x4 cube, including one for a child, a regular magnetic model is a better choice. Without 4x4 experience, the Crazy V3 can quickly become discouraging.
