A magnetic 13x13 cube from ShengShou's MoSheng series. At only about 93 mm and about 606 g, it is much smaller and lighter than older 13x13 cubes. Magnets in the pieces help align the layers, and the matte surface gives your fingers good grip.

SengSo MoSheng 13x13 M is a magnetic 13x13 cube from ShengShou (SengSo is the brand name the manufacturer puts on its cubes). It belongs to the MoSheng series, the manufacturer's newer line of big cubes, and for a puzzle with thirteen layers it is surprisingly small: about 93 mm per side and about 606 g. The letter M in the name stands for the magnetic version. It comes in the stickerless bright colour scheme.
For comparison, the earlier pillowed ShengShou 13x13 measured about 130 mm and weighed over a kilogram. The MoSheng is a few centimetres smaller and roughly 40% lighter, so your hands tire much more slowly during a solve that often takes over an hour. There is a trade-off, though: with 13 layers in 93 mm, the individual pieces are small, and you need to grip the middle layers more precisely than on a bigger cube. It takes some getting used to at first.
With big cubes, the biggest problem is usually not speed but layer alignment. When one of the many layers is slightly misaligned, the next move ends in a lockup or has to be corrected. The magnets in the pieces help the layers settle into the right position on their own, so turns are more predictable and you need fewer corrections. The surface is matte (frosted) and gives your fingers good grip during long solves.
Keep in mind that this is still a big cube. Turn it calmly and with control. Aggressive high-TPS turning on a cube this size increases the risk of catching and popping.
The MoSheng 13x13 is also available in a non-magnetic version. The design is the same; only the magnets differ. The non-magnetic version is slightly lighter and turns more freely, without a noticeable "click". The M version gives you more control over the layers and is the better choice if you want to solve the 13x13 regularly rather than just keep it in your collection.
For cubers who have already mastered smaller big cubes (7x7 and up) and want to move on to a 13x13. It also works well as a magnetic addition to a big cube collection. For a first cube, a simpler model is definitely a better choice.
