ShengShou MoSheng 14x14

ShengShou MoSheng 14x14 (SengSo) belongs to the MoSheng series, the manufacturer's newer line of big NxN cubes. You notice this most in the size. The 14x14 cube has an edge of approx. 95 mm and weighs approx. 626 g, while the older ShengShou Pillow 14x14 measured approx. 108 mm and weighed approx. 780 g. With more than a dozen layers, you can really feel that difference in your hands, especially after a few dozen minutes of solving.

How it turns

The manufacturer highlights light, smooth turning and a stable internal structure. On a cube this big, that's essential, because any layer that isn't fully aligned quickly turns into a lockup on another axis. The plastic is matte (frosted) and offers medium grip, so the cube doesn't slip in your hands during long solves. The stickerless bright version has no stickers that could wear off or peel with such a large number of pieces.

To be honest, though, a 14x14 is not a cube for high TPS. A solve usually takes a long time, and carefully aligning the layers before each move matters more here than turning speed. There are still only a few reviews of the MoSheng 14x14 itself, so we describe its feel with caution.

Non-magnetic and magnetic versions

The MoSheng 14x14 comes in two versions. The weight of approx. 626 g refers to the non-magnetic version, while the magnetic version weighs approx. 658 g. Without magnets, the cube is slightly lighter and has a more classic big-cube feel. However, the layers don't "click" into place on their own, so you have to align them by hand. The magnetic version makes it easier to keep the layers aligned, but it is heavier.

Who is it for?

For cubers who are already comfortable with 7x7 or bigger cubes and want to try longer, marathon-style solving. It's also a great choice for collectors completing the MoSheng series or looking for a big cube to display. As a first cube or a gift for a child who is just starting out, it's definitely too big a challenge.
