SengSo MoSheng 6x6 Magnetic

SengSo MoSheng 6x6 Magnetic is a magnetic 6x6 cube from the MoSheng series. It is made by ShengShou, which sells some of its newer puzzles under the SengSo brand. The cube measures 61 mm, so it is noticeably smaller than this manufacturer's classic 6x6 cubes. The older ShengShou 6x6 is about 67 mm, and the Tank 6x6 is about 67.5 mm. The cube is stickerless in the bright colour scheme, so there are no stickers that could wear off or peel.

Size and handling

With big cubes, size matters. A 6x6 with 61 mm sides is easier to hold, especially if you have smaller hands. It is also easier to turn the inner layers without regripping the whole cube. The cube is light for a 6x6 too, so your hands get less tired during longer sessions. If you are used to large 67-69 mm 6x6 cubes, the smaller pieces may require more precise turning at first.

Magnets in the Magnetic version

The cube comes with factory-installed magnets. They help the layers align and reduce lockups during fast solving. This matters on a 6x6, because with so many layers it is easy to leave one slightly misaligned. The MoSheng 6x6 series also has a non-magnetic version. The magnetic cube is more predictable and stable. The non-magnetic version is lighter and can work well for relaxed learning.

Who is it for?

MoSheng 6x6 Magnetic is a good choice if you can already solve a 4x4 or 5x5 and want to try a 6x6 without buying a flagship model right away. Learning the 6x6 mostly uses the same methods as the 5x5, i.e. reduction to 3x3, just with more centres and edges to pair. This cube also works well as a first big magnetic cube for a child who has already mastered smaller cubes. Speedcubers looking for tension adjustment and a refined top-shelf feel will probably choose more expensive models from other manufacturers.
