SengSo Teraminx v2 is the second version of the 12-sided puzzle from the Megaminx family by ShengShou (SengSo is the manufacturer's budget line). The Teraminx has one more layer per face than the Gigaminx and is sometimes called the "7x7 megaminx". Each of the 12 flat faces has 61 coloured pieces. A stickered version would need 732 stickers. The v2 has none at all, because the colours are in the plastic (stickerless bright). Nothing can peel off or wear away.

What changed in v2

The v2 is stickerless and turns noticeably smoother than the first Teraminx. According to user reviews, the puzzle turns well straight out of the box. The faces are completely flat, with no bulges. It is a purely mechanical puzzle: there are no magnets, no MagLev, no Ball-Core and no UV coating.

How it turns and solves

The Teraminx v2 is a large and fairly heavy puzzle, so it turns very differently from a Megaminx. TPS doesn't matter here; comfort over a long session does. Without magnets, the layers don't snap into place on their own. To avoid lockups, you need to keep the layers aligned before each move. The solve is long, but it doesn't require any exotic method. First you build the centres and edges of the faces, then you solve the whole puzzle like a regular Megaminx. Experience with 6x6 and 7x7 cubes helps a lot.

Who is it for?

For anyone who has already mastered the Megaminx, ideally the Gigaminx as well, and is looking for the next, much longer challenge. It also makes an impressive addition to a collection. The Teraminx is not a WCA event, so you buy it for the joy of solving rather than for competitions. For a child's first puzzle, a regular Megaminx is a much better choice.
