ShengShou Tank 7x7x7

ShengShou Tank 7x7x7 is an affordable non-magnetic 7x7 cube. ShengShou released it after a break of many years as a brand-new 7x7 model, not a refresh of an older design. The mechanism is simple and typical of this manufacturer, and it is not built for maximum solving speed. The cube is made of colored plastic (stickerless bright) with a matte, textured surface (frosted), so you don't have to worry about stickers peeling off.

How it turns

Turning is light and doesn't take much force. The Tank has an interesting feel: it seems loose when you turn it, yet it is very solid and holds together well. Corner cutting is fairly weak, so you may get lockups when layers aren't aligned precisely. This cube rewards a calm, controlled pace more than high TPS.

No magnets means the cube won't align the layers on its own. That's understandable in this price range, but if you're used to magnetic 7x7 cubes, keep it in mind.

Tension adjustment

Tension is set with adjustment screws. A tighter cube will be more stable, while a looser one will cut corners more easily. When you first use it, take a moment to find the right setup, as it determines how the cube behaves while solving.

Who is it for?

For anyone who wants to give 7x7 a try without spending a lot on a flagship magnetic model right away. The Tank works well for learning center and edge reduction and for casual solving. Its size of approx. 69-70 mm is comfortable even for smaller hands. Speedcubers who take 7x7 seriously and expect strong corner cutting should rather choose a higher-end magnetic cube.
