The Speed Stacks Gen4 Mat is a soft pad for solving cubes, with a timer attached to it. Speedcubers know it from home practice and from competitions, and the Gray and Green versions feature the WCA logo. It's also used in sport stacking (speed stacking cups), the discipline it originally comes from.

What a speedcubing mat is for

Putting down and picking up your cube is easier on a mat than on a bare tabletop. The cube doesn't slide around the table, and the plastic and stickers get scratched less. The timer stays in one place, so your hands land on the same spot every time you start and stop the timer. It's much closer to competition conditions than timing yourself on your phone.

The shorter edge of the mat has clips that you slide the timer into. They fit Speed Stacks Gen3 and Gen4 timers as well as models from several other manufacturers that we sell:

Size and colour versions

The Gen4 is smaller than the previous-generation mat, so it also fits on a narrow desk or a small table. It weighs about 130 g, and once rolled up, it's easy to take to a competition or a meetup with other cubers. You can choose from two colours: Gray and Green.
