X-Man XT3 V1 3x3 Flagship

The XT3 V1 is the more affordable line from X-Man Design (QiYi), released in autumn 2024. In terms of construction, it is very close to the Tornado V3. The X-Man XT3 V1 3x3 Flagship has a magnetic core and classic springs, with simplified adjustment: there is no magnet strength adjustment, only tension and compression. This makes the cube noticeably lighter than the Tornado. This version has a matte surface without UV coating and comes in a stickerless bright colour scheme.

How it turns

Users compare the XT3 V1 to a lighter Tornado V3 that still gives a distinct "click" with every move. The cube is more stable and controllable than very fast. Corner cutting is good, and the magnets have a medium, balanced strength. Once lubed, the feel is described as smooth with a slightly tactile character. Straight out of the box, the springs can be audible and the cube may feel a bit "springy". Lubing usually helps with this. If you are looking for the fastest possible cube for very light turning, you may find it a little too calm.

Magnets and adjustment

• Magnetic core: magnets between the core and the corners help the layers snap into place and stabilize the cube during fast turning.
• Fixed magnet strength: unlike the Tornado V3 and V4, it cannot be changed.
• Springs instead of MagLev: tension and compression are adjusted in the core, without disassembling the whole cube.

Flagship, Flagship UV or Pioneer?

The Flagship and Flagship UV share the same mechanism. They differ only in finish: matte or glossy, which gives a stronger grip on the fingers. The Pioneer has MagLev instead of springs, additional magnets in the edges and a UV coating, and it is also heavier (approx. 71-72 g). If you like a light cube with springs, choose the Flagship. If you prefer the faster MagLev feel, consider the Pioneer.

Who is it for?

For cubers who want the character of the Tornado V3 at a lower price and don't need magnet adjustment. The XT3 V1 Flagship works well as a main for intermediate solvers or as a first more serious magnetic cube after a budget model. Its sensibly set factory magnets also make it suitable for beginners who don't want to deal with settings right away.
