X-Man XT3 V1 3x3 Pioneer MagLev + UV

X-Man Design, a brand owned by QiYi, released the XT3 V1 series in October 2024 as a more affordable alternative to the Tornado. The design is based on the Tornado V3 but has a simpler adjustment system and a lower weight. X-Man XT3 V1 3x3 Pioneer is the best-equipped version of this magnetic cube. Instead of springs it uses MagLev, it has core magnets, and on the outside it has a glossy UV coating. We offer it in stickerless bright.

How it turns

The Pioneer is fast and light to turn. Users say that out of the box it is fairly loose and very fast, and once tightened it becomes noticeably more controllable. Compared with the Tornado V4, the XT3 Pioneer feels looser, more "hollow" and a bit louder. The magnets give a noticeable click when the layers align. Some find their strength well balanced, others a little weaker than in more expensive X-Man models. Corner cutting is good, although some reviewers rate it as slightly worse than on the Tornado.

MagLev, core magnets and adjustment

• MagLev. The springs are replaced with repelling magnets, which makes turning lighter and faster than in the spring version.
• Core magnets. Magnets between the core and the corners help keep the layers in place during fast turning.
• Tension and compression adjustment with 11 compression settings and a red dial. The magnet strength cannot be changed. Some users point out that the dial has no clear markings for the individual settings.
• UV Coated. The glossy coating gives a strong grip and looks great on the stickerless colors.

Pioneer or Flagship?

The Flagship version (matte or UV) has the same body, core magnets and adjustment system, but classic springs. It is also lighter, approx. 65 g. The Pioneer makes sense if you prefer light, fast MagLev turning and turn at high TPS. If you prefer a more predictable, spring-based feel, you may be happier with the Flagship.

Who is it for?

This 3x3 cube with MagLev and core magnets is for cubers who want this set of features without buying the flagship Tornado. It works best for intermediate and faster speedcubers. Beginners can handle it too, but it is worth tightening the loose factory setup a little so the cube is less likely to slip away from your fingers.
