YJ YuPo 2x2 II Magnetic

YJ YuPo 2x2 II Magnetic

YJ YuPo 2x2 II Magnetic is the new generation of the budget 2x2 cube from YJ (YongJun), refreshed in 2025. For years, the YuPo has been one of the most popular cheap 2x2 cubes, and version II is still a simple, affordable magnetic cube. It measures 50 mm and comes in a stickerless bright version, meaning no stickers, just coloured plastic.

How it turns

The cube comes factory lubed. According to the manufacturer, four lubes of different viscosity were used inside and on the contact surfaces of the pieces, so you don't need to lube it right out of the box. The magnets help the layers settle into place, so the cube is less likely to stop halfway through a turn, and it's easier to avoid overshooting and lockups than with a non-magnetic cube. It's still a budget model, so don't expect the range of adjustments or the level of refinement you get with flagship 2x2s. For learning and regular solving, it's simply a solid cube.

Magnetic or Clicky?

The YuPo 2x2 II also comes in a Clicky version. The difference is that in the Clicky version the magnets make an audible click every time a layer snaps into place. The Magnetic version is quieter, with no distinct sound. If you like hearing that a layer has locked into place, choose Clicky. If you need it quiet, for example when practising at home or at school, the Magnetic version is the better choice.

Who is it for?

A good first magnetic 2x2 cube for anyone getting started with this event or learning the Ortega or CLL methods. It also works well as a second 2x2 to carry around, since damaging or losing it won't hurt much. Its light weight and 50 mm size make it fit nicely in smaller hands, so it's a sensible gift for a child. A speedcuber chasing competition results who wants to fine-tune their setup will, sooner or later, probably reach for a more expensive 2x2 with more adjustment options.
