YJ (YongJun) is a Chinese manufacturer known for affordable cubes that perform well. Its best-known lines are the magnetic MGC and "Yu" series (YuLong, YuPo, YuSu, YuHu), and YJ also makes many unusual puzzles such as Fisher, Axis and Mirror. Its range has something for both beginners and speedcubers.
YJ, the Chinese brand YongJun (永骏), is one of the best-known manufacturers of cubes and twisty puzzles. The company is based in Guangdong province, China. It made its name in the cubing community around 2008 with the Type D cube. Since then its range has grown a lot. It includes classic cubes from 2x2 to 7x7, Megaminx, Pyraminx and Square-1, as well as shape mods such as Fisher, Axis, Mirror and Mastermorphic.
YJ is best known for budget cubes that perform much better than their price suggests. A good example is the GuanLong 3x3. It was so cheap that it became a meme among cubers, and it was also a popular base for modding. Over time YJ also started making higher-end models for speedcubers, and today you can see its cubes at competitions.
For beginners and parents, YJ is a sensible choice for a first magnetic cube. The magnets help snap the layers into place and make learning easier, and the price is low. Casual solvers can build a full set of sizes and WCA puzzles without spending much. Speedcubers should look mainly at the MGC series. Cheaper YJ models usually offer fewer adjustment options than the flagships of the most expensive brands. If precise compression or magnet strength adjustment matters to you, compare the specific versions.
YJ makes more than just cubes. Our range also includes the YJ SpeedCubing Timer and fingerboards with ramps and skateparks.
