YuXin HuangLong 3x3 V2 Maglev Ball Core

YuXin HuangLong 3x3 V2 MagLev Ball-Core

HuangLong is the series in which YuXin releases its flagship cubes. The YuXin HuangLong 3x3 V2 MagLev Ball-Core is the second generation of the 3x3 model, released at the end of 2024. Compared with the first HuangLong, the V2 comes with a more modern set of features. Instead of springs, it uses a MagLev system, and inside there is a magnetic Ball-Core. The cube measures 55.5 mm and weighs approx. 73 g, which makes it one of the lighter standard-size 3x3 cubes. It is available in the stickerless bright colour scheme.

How it turns

The magnets in the pieces are of medium strength. The cube clearly helps you finish your turns, but it doesn't feel heavy or overly "clicky". Users point out its soft, smooth feel and relatively quiet turning. Corner cutting is good, and with the right setup it reaches about 45 degrees. One shop describes the feel as rather unusual, so if you're used to a particular flagship cube, you may need a few sessions to get comfortable with it. According to some reviews, the plastic quality is decent but doesn't match more expensive models.

MagLev, Ball-Core and tension adjustment

• MagLev means repelling magnets instead of springs between the edges and the core. This usually translates into lighter, faster turning and no typical spring noise.
• Ball-Core means magnets between the corners and the spherical core. They help align the layers (auto-alignment at about 30 degrees) and keep the cube stable during fast turning.
• 6 MagLev settings let you adjust the cube's feel from looser to tighter.
• Anti-pop mechanism and "dragon scale" shaped pieces, which according to the manufacturer improve turning smoothness.

Who is it for?

The HuangLong V2 is a good choice if you already have your first magnetic cube behind you and want to try MagLev and Ball-Core without going for the most expensive flagships. It will also suit cubers looking for a light cube with medium magnets and calm, quiet turning. If you're after very strong magnets or very refined plastic, it's worth comparing it with top models from other manufacturers.
