YuXin HuangLong 3x3 V2 Maglev Ball Core UV

The second generation of the HuangLong 3x3 from YuXin in its most fully featured version. YuXin HuangLong 3x3 V2 Maglev Ball Core UV has magnets in the pieces, magnets linking the corners to the core (Ball-Core), MagLev instead of springs and a glossy UV coating. It is a magnetic 3x3 cube with the full set of technologies known from flagship models, while sitting in a clearly lower price range than GAN or MoYu models with the same features.

How it turns

The magnet strength is medium, so the cube is neither very "clicky" nor too loose. Ball-Core helps pull the layers into place at around 30 degrees and keeps the cube stable during fast turning. Corner cutting reaches about 45 degrees, but you will usually need to fine-tune the setup a little. Users describe the turning as soft and fairly quiet, without distinct clicks. The feel is quite unusual and won't suit everyone right away, and one reviewer pointed out that the plastic quality could be better. Some cubers still prefer the first HuangLong, so the V2 is hard to call an obvious successor for everyone.

MagLev, Ball-Core and tension adjustment

• MagLev: instead of springs, repelling magnets work between the core and the edges. This gives lighter and faster turning than a classic spring system.
• Ball-Core: magnets between the corners and the spherical core. They are responsible for auto-alignment and greater stability.
• MagLev adjustment with 6 settings: lets you switch the cube from very loose to very tight. Magnet strength is not adjusted separately, so the adjustment itself is simpler than in more expensive models with several independent systems.
• Anti-pop and "dragon scale" shaped pieces designed to smooth out turning.

UV or matte version?

The mechanism is the same. The UV version has a glossy coating with stronger grip and is more scratch-resistant. The frosted version has matte plastic with medium grip. The choice mainly depends on which surface you prefer in your hands.

Who is it for?

For cubers who want to try MagLev and Ball-Core without buying an expensive flagship, and for those moving from their first magnetic cube to something more advanced. The lightweight build and medium magnets also make it a good fit for younger users. If you want extensive customization (separate adjustment of magnets, compression and Ball-Core), you will find it in more expensive models.
