Yuxin Huanglong Petaminx M is a magnetic 9x9 megaminx with flat faces and a face edge of approx. 52.5 mm, in a stickerless bright colour scheme. The magnets in the pieces help the layers settle into place. It is a puzzle for those who have already solved a megaminx and a Gigaminx.

Yuxin Huanglong Petaminx M is the magnetic version of the Petaminx from the Huanglong series. The Petaminx is a dodecahedron, a megaminx with 9 layers on each face (the equivalent of a 9x9). It has flat faces and a lot of pieces, so solving it takes quite a while. This version has magnets in the pieces and comes in a stickerless bright colour scheme.
Reviews of the non-magnetic version say that the Yuxin Petaminx turns smoothly right out of the box. The face edge is approx. 52.5 mm long, so for a 9-layer minx it sits well in your hands. Some users report, however, that the turning can be a bit stiff and that you need to be careful not to cause popping. The magnets help the layers settle into place. With so many pieces, this makes it easier to align the layers, and lockups caused by a misaligned layer happen less often. The puzzle is also slightly heavier than the version without magnets. The pieces have small indentations that improve grip.
If you can solve a megaminx and a Gigaminx (5x5), you can also handle the Petaminx. The centres and edges are solved similarly to the Gigaminx, and for the last layer you will use megaminx algorithms as well as edge algorithms from larger minxes. This is not a puzzle for speed, but for long, relaxed sessions. Solving a Petaminx for the first time often takes several hours.
The main difference between the two versions is the magnets. The M version gives you a clearer feel when a layer is in place and more stable behaviour when turning large blocks. The non-magnetic version is lighter and has a looser turning feel. The choice mainly depends on which feel you prefer.
For those who have already solved a megaminx and a Gigaminx and want to try something much bigger. It is also a great choice for collectors of larger minxes. For your first puzzle of this type, a regular megaminx is a better choice, as the Petaminx requires patience and gentle handling.
