YuXin Little Magic 3x3 V3 MagLev UV

For years, the Little Magic has been one of the most recommended budget cubes. In its third generation, YuXin has given it features that used to be reserved for more expensive models. The YuXin Little Magic 3x3 V3 MagLev UV is a magnetic 3x3 cube with a MagLev system instead of classic springs, center distance adjustment and a glossy UV coating. It comes in a stickerless bright colour scheme.

How it turns

The cube is fast straight out of the box, and both shops and users rate its corner cutting highly with no setup at all. It is lightweight, so it also works well for OH. Opinions on the feel vary. Some people describe it as crunchy and compare it to GAN cubes, while others point out that it is less stable than, for example, the RS3M. If you prefer a more controllable feel, you will probably want to tune it, because it comes set up for speed. Some users also report lockups that don't go away even after changing the lube or settings. The mechanism of a budget cube is not as refined as in flagship models, so keep that in mind.

MagLev and adjustment

• MagLev: instead of springs, the layers are held together by repelling magnets. This reduces friction and eliminates spring noise, and turns have a bouncier, more "springy" feel.
• 6 center distance levels: you can change the center distance directly in the cube. Set it looser for speed and cutting, or tighter for stability.
• UV Coated: the glossy coating gives a stronger grip than regular plastic and is more resistant to wear.

UV, VT or uncoated?

The Little Magic V3 MagLev is also available uncoated and in a VT version with a matte, frosted-like finish. The mechanism is the same, so the choice comes down to which surface feels better in your hands. The UV version looks slicker, but it actually grips your fingers better.

Who is it for?

It suits anyone moving on from their first cube who wants to see how MagLev works in practice without spending money on a flagship. It also works well as a cheap backup cube or for OH. An advanced speedcuber looking for a competition main will probably notice a difference in stability and mechanism refinement compared to more expensive models.
