YuXin Little Magic Pyraminx M

YuXin Little Magic Pyraminx M

YuXin Little Magic Pyraminx M is a magnetic pyraminx from YuXin's budget Little Magic series, on the market since 2021. In the non-magnetic version, the layers are positioned by balls. In the M version, these are replaced with factory-installed magnets, so you don't need to add anything yourself. This pyraminx costs very little, yet it is still used at high-level competitions. Tymon Kolasiński set a 1.83 s average on a modded copy, which was the world record at the time.

How it turns

Depending on the review, the magnets are described as medium or fairly strong. The layers clearly "click" into place, and the puzzle stays stable during fast turning. Corner cutting is good. Straight out of the box, the feel can be sandy and a bit dry, which is typical of cheaper puzzles. Once you lube it and set the tension, it turns noticeably better. The plastic scratches fairly easily, which shows after longer use.

Tension adjustment and mods

Tension is adjusted with adjustment screws. The puzzle handles modding well. The version Kolasiński used for the record had one magnet fewer in each tip, i.e. the single-layer corner piece. It also had the washers under the screw heads removed and was lubed with medium-viscosity lube. These mods are optional. If you don't want to take the puzzle apart, you can start by lubing it and adjusting the screws.

Who is it for?

It's a good first pyraminx for anyone who wants a magnetic puzzle that's ready for speedcubing right away, not a toy. It also works well as a budget main for more experienced speedcubers who like to set up their puzzles themselves. You can use it at WCA competitions without any issues. It has sharp, vivid stickerless colors that are easy to tell apart, which is especially helpful for kids learning to solve.
