Yuxin Super Hero Cube 3x3 is something between a desk figure and a puzzle. The set consists of a 3x3 cube and a small stand shaped like a muscular strongman. The cube is his head. Each of the cube's six faces has a different facial expression, so by turning the cube on the stand, you change the character's expression. The cube attaches to the stand magnetically, so it doesn't fall off when you move the figure. On a shelf, it looks a bit like a statuette from a film awards ceremony, just with wildly exaggerated emoji faces.

A figure you can solve

Take it off the stand and you're holding a regular 3x3 cube that you can turn and solve as usual. To be clear, though, this is a gadget, not a cube for setting records. This model is not legal for WCA competitions. The manufacturer also doesn't list any features typical of speedcubing cubes, such as tension adjustment or magnets in the mechanism. A speedcuber won't replace their main cube with it, but they can put it next to their main cube on the desk.

Golden or Silver?

Both versions have the same construction and differ only in colour. The Golden version is gold, and the Silver version is silver. It's purely a matter of taste and where the figure is going to stand.

Who is it for?

It's a great gift for someone who likes cubes, or for a child who will be more interested in playing with the hero's facial expressions than in solve times. It also works well as a decoration for a desk or a shelf with a puzzle collection. If you're looking for your first cube to learn to solve, you'll be better off choosing a regular 3x3 cube for beginners, as it will be easier and more comfortable to turn.
