Z-cube 2x2x2 Face Cube is a 2x2 cube with pictures of faces instead of the classic colors. The whole body is a single color, and each side has printed faces with different expressions, a different one on every side. You can choose from four body colors: blue, green, yellow and red.

How is it different from a regular 2x2 cube?

Mechanically, it is a regular 2x2x2 cube. It has eight corner pieces and turns just like any Pocket Cube. Recognizing the pieces is a different story, though. On a classic cube you can see right away which corner goes where, because each one has different colors. In the Face Cube, all pieces are made of the same color plastic. The cube is solved only when every side shows a complete, correctly oriented face.

The solving method is the same as for a regular 2x2, so knowing the basic algorithms is enough. The only thing that changes is what you look at. Instead of colors, you have to track parts of the pictures and their orientation. If you can solve a 2x2 without thinking, it makes a fun change and a good exercise in observation.

Who is it for?

The Face Cube is a puzzle for fun and collecting, not a speedcubing cube. It has no tension adjustment and no features such as MagLev or Ball-Core. It is also not allowed in WCA competitions. It is a great choice for a child who likes colorful puzzles, for a collector of unusual 2x2 cubes, and as a small gift for someone who already solves classic cubes. If you are looking for a cube to break records, it is better to choose a magnetic 2x2 cube designed for speedcubing.
