Zeal Smart Timer is a speedcubing timer from ZePuzzles. It works like a classic timer: you place both hands on the pads, then start and stop the timing. What sets it apart from standard models is its colour display, on which the timer generates and shows scrambles by itself. This means you don't need a phone or a computer with csTimer to practise.

What this cube timer can do

• Built-in scrambles for 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 5x5, Pyraminx, Skewb, Clock and Square-1, generated without an internet connection.
• Timing accuracy of 0.001 s.
• Timing up to 99 hours. Many timers stop counting after 10 minutes, but the Zeal can also handle long attempts, for example in multi-blind.
• Saving and editing results, including a +2 penalty, DNF, deleting a time and viewing the scramble that produced the result.
• mo3 and ao5 averages calculated on the fly and shown on the screen.
• Rechargeable battery charged via USB-C, no battery replacement needed.

Things to keep in mind

The screen is in colour, but small. Short scrambles are easy to read, while longer sequences, for example for 5x5, need a closer look. Some users mention in reviews that the generated scrambles can be easier than those from computer programs. That's enough for everyday practice, but if you analyse your times seriously, you may still want to use csTimer. The menu is available in English and Chinese.

Colour versions

The timer is available in white (White) and blue (Blue). In the blue version, only the green LED lights up during use.

Who is it for?
