Calvins Puzzle Corey 3x3x5 Fisher Cuboid V1

This puzzle was designed by Corey Fravel and is produced by Calvin's Puzzle. The Corey 3x3x5 Fisher Cuboid starts from a classic 3x3x5 cuboid, but its cuts are rotated by 45 degrees, just like on the Fisher Cube. After a few moves it loses its cuboid shape, which makes it a shape-shifting puzzle. Our variant is the V1 in stickerless bright, with no stickers. The plastic is coloured all the way through.

Versions V1, V2 and V3

All three versions share the same mechanism and shape. They differ only in the colour layout. On the V1, the top 3x3 face is orange. The V2 has blue and green on the 3x3 faces, and the V3 has white and yellow. So when you buy, you are mainly choosing the look. If you collect cuboids, you can get the whole set, because each version looks different on the shelf.

How it turns

This is a puzzle for collectors and puzzle fans, not a speedcubing cube. Turning is fairly smooth, but corner cutting is limited, so you need to make your moves precisely. Users also point out that the mechanism feels a bit "loose" and is louder than typical speed cubes. Even so, you can still do fingertricks on it. The corners on the outer layers may have a little play. According to reviews, this affects the feel and the sound, but not the solving itself.

It is for people who can already solve a 3x3x3 and want to try something harder. It will be easiest for those who know cuboids, such as a regular 3x3x5. To solve the Fisher Cuboid, you need a 3x3x5 method and a way to restore the shape after it changes. That is why this model is not suitable as a first cube, including for a child.
