Manish Hexacopter is a puzzle designed by Indian creator Manish Rathod and produced by Calvin's Puzzle. The idea is simple: the Curvy Copter mechanism is placed inside a hexagonal prism. The result is a shape mod with stickers in 8 colors, because the prism has 8 faces: 6 sides plus the top and bottom bases. The body is available in two colors: Black and Blue.

How is it different from the Curvy Copter?

If you have already solved a Curvy Copter, you will recognize the way it turns, but that is where the similarities end. The hexagonal shape changes the layout of the cuts, so the solution you know is not enough. Users say the Hexacopter is noticeably harder than the original, even for people who had no trouble with the Curvy Copter. After a few moves the puzzle loses its shape, and it also allows jumbling, meaning moves that swap pieces in ways that are impossible on a regular Copter. To solve it, you need to restore both the shape and the color pattern.

To start, you can scramble the Hexacopter without jumbling and move on to full scrambles only once you have mastered that version. This approach makes learning easier, because the shape does not change so drastically.

According to reviews, the puzzle turns smoothly, but it is a puzzle for relaxed solving and for your collection, not for timed speedcubing. Some people lubed it straight out of the box, and only after that did the Hexacopter perform the way they expected. So it is worth having some cube lube at hand.

Who is it for?

For cubers who already know puzzles like the Helicopter Cube or Curvy Copter and want a tougher challenge. The Hexacopter will also appeal to collectors of unusual puzzles thanks to its distinctive hexagonal shape. As a first puzzle after the 3x3 cube it is too big a jump - it is better to start with a simpler edge-turning model.
