Manish Hexacopter is a shape-shifting puzzle. It was designed by Manish Rathod, a puzzle designer from India, and produced by Calvin's Puzzle. This is the two-color V2 version from a limited series of two-color Hexacopter editions, on blue plastic. It's a puzzle mainly for collectors and for anyone who has already mastered the classic cubes and wants to try something less typical.

How the Hexacopter works

On a regular 3x3 cube, the faces turn. On the Hexacopter, you turn around the edges and around the corners. After just a few moves the puzzle loses its cube shape, so while solving you have to keep track not only of the colors but also of the geometry. The Hexacopter also jumbles: in certain positions you can make moves that don't restore the symmetry of the shape. That's why it's harder to solve than puzzles where every move always returns to the same shape.

This puzzle isn't designed for speedsolving. What matters here is understanding the mechanism and finding your own sequences. According to user reviews, the turning is smooth, but when jumbling you need to align the pieces precisely before the next move.

Who is it for?

For anyone who already knows basic puzzles such as the Skewb, Pyraminx or Helicopter Cube and is looking for something more challenging. The Hexacopter will also be a great addition to a collection of shape-shifting puzzles, especially as this is a limited color edition.
