A limited, two-color V1 version of the Manish Hexacopter puzzle from Calvin's Puzzle. It's a Curvy Copter shape mod in the form of a hexagonal prism that turns around its edges and corners, allows jumbling and changes shape as you solve it. A great pick for collectors and anyone already familiar with Curvy Copter-style puzzles.
Manish Hexacopter two-color V1 is a shape-shifting puzzle from Calvin's Puzzle, designed by Manish Rathod from India. The design combines a hexagonal prism with the Curvy Copter mechanism. The puzzle turns around its edges and corners rather than around its faces like a classic cube. The two-color V1 is a limited edition with a body made of two plastic colors, black and blue. A V2 version was released later, with a slightly different arrangement of the same two colors.
The Hexacopter is a shape mod of the Curvy Copter, but the new shape changes quite a lot about solving it. After a few moves the puzzle loses its hexagonal profile, and the mechanism allows jumbling, meaning moves that send pieces to unusual positions. To solve the puzzle, you need to restore both the original shape and the correct color arrangement. According to user reviews, even people who find the Curvy Copter easy have to work out a different approach here.
The turning is smooth, but this puzzle wasn't made for speedcubing, and there's no point comparing it with 3x3 cubes in terms of TPS or corner cutting. It's a puzzle for calm, unhurried figuring out. Buyers report that a few drops of lube noticeably improve how the mechanism works.
The mechanism and shape are the same as in the regular Hexacopter, which comes with a solid black or blue body. The two-color V1 differs in looks: the two-tone plastic creates a different visual effect, and the model itself was released in a limited run. This version is mainly for collectors who want a less common variant.
For those who have already solved the Curvy Copter, the Helicopter Cube or other edge-turning puzzles and are looking for something harder. Because of jumbling and shape-shifting, the Manish Hexacopter is not really a good first puzzle for a child. If you're a parent looking for a gift for a young cuber, we recommend choosing it only once your child is comfortable with unusual puzzles.
