DianSheng Googol 10cm Magnetic 3x3

The largest magnetic cube in the DianSheng Googol series (also sold abroad as the DianSheng Big 3x3). The Diansheng Googol 10cm Magnetic 3x3 has a 100 mm edge, almost twice as long as a standard 3x3 cube (approx. 56 mm). Despite its size, you can solve it normally. It comes with factory-installed magnets, a tension adjustment system and a mechanism modelled on speedcubes. It is available in the stickerless bright version, so the colours are in the plastic and there are no stickers that could wear off.

What it's like to solve a big 3x3 cube

At 10 cm and a weight of approx. 400 g, you need to expect a completely different solving experience than on a regular cube. You hold the cube with your whole hands, turn the layers with wider movements, and your TPS will naturally be much lower. Reviewers and speedcubing shops agree that it turns surprisingly well for its size. The magnets help the layers settle into place, so you need fewer corrections and get fewer lockups. The pieces have a shape the manufacturer calls "teardrop", which is meant to make turning smoother.

This is not a cube for competitions or breaking records. It works well for relaxed solving just for fun, as a change from your main cube, or as an eye-catching puzzle for your desk or shelf.

Adjustment

The Googol 10cm has a dual-adjustment system with 10 settings. It lets you set the tension, i.e. whether the cube should be looser and faster or tighter and more controllable. In a big cube this matters a lot, because with heavier pieces a setting that is too loose easily leads to unstable behaviour.

Who is it for?

For cubers who can already solve a 3x3 and want an unusual cube for their collection or just for fun. It is also a good gift for a child who loves cubes: the big pieces are easy to see and comfortable to grip. As a first cube for learning, however, a standard, lightweight 3x3 magnetic model will work better. The Googol series also includes smaller 7, 8 and 9 cm versions. Those closer to the regular size are lighter and easier to turn.
