DianSheng Googol 7cm Magnetic 3x3 is the smallest model in DianSheng's series of oversized 3x3 cubes. In other shops abroad you may also find it under the name DianSheng Big 3x3 M. Each edge measures 70 mm, noticeably more than a standard 3x3 at 54-57 mm. Even so, this is not just a cube for the shelf: it comes with factory-installed magnets and a mechanism that works well for regular solving.

How it turns

You can feel right away that the cube is bigger, but after a short time getting used to it, you can turn it almost the same way as a regular 3x3. Users say that straight out of the box it turns surprisingly well for its size. The magnets are of medium strength. They help the layers settle into place without making the cube feel heavy to turn. The pieces have a teardrop shape, which, according to the manufacturer, is meant to make turning smoother.

Of all the Googol sizes, the 7 cm version is the easiest one to solve fast. With the 9 and 10 cm versions, the weight and size already call for calmer, more deliberate moves. We don't see this cube as a replacement for your main 3x3 for setting records. It's more of a change from the standard size that still lets you do timed solves.

Tension adjustment

The Googol has a tension adjustment system, so you can change the factory setting if the cube feels too loose or too tight. With this kind of design, lube also makes a big difference, because the larger pieces are easier to feel under your fingers than in a standard 3x3.
