ESTAR Clock Standard Version is a magnetic clock from ESCube without bearings. The magnet strength is adjustable, and Teflon rings with refined gears give the dials smooth, distinctly clicky turning. The flat edge of the housing means the clock stands upright and doesn't tip over when you put it down.

ESCube is best known for its cubes, and the ESTAR is the brand's first Clock. ESTAR Clock Standard Version is a magnetic clock without bearings, made for practice and WCA competitions. Its design is similar to the magnetic clocks from QiYi and ShengShou V2. However, ESCube redesigned the internal parts and added magnet adjustment, along with a few practical details that older models didn't have.
Positioning magnets stop each dial exactly on the hour, so it never gets stuck between positions. Every turn has a distinct "click". Early users describe the ESTAR as clicky and fairly controllable, and those who know the ShengShou Magnetic Clock V2 say the first turns feel very similar. Teflon rings, low-friction gears and a micro-floating design keep the movement smooth. The plastic is semi-glossy with a medium grip.
You can change the magnet strength. According to users, there are four configurations to choose from: weak magnets, medium (factory setting) and two strong variants. The screwdriver included in the set lets you swap them. A central magnetic ring helps keep the magnets in place, so they are less likely to fall out of the pieces.
There is a flat section on the edge of the housing. Thanks to it, the clock stands upright when you put it down on the table and doesn't tip over, e.g. while you start the timer.
The Bearing version additionally has bearings in the mechanism and 10 repulsion magnets, which are meant to give lighter turning and more stable behavior during fast solving. The Standard has neither bearings nor repulsion magnets. Magnet adjustment, Teflon rings and the flat edge are found in both versions. The Standard is therefore a simpler and more affordable version of the same design.
For Clock solvers who want to switch from QiYi or ShengShou to a newer design with magnet adjustment. It also works well for someone just starting out in this event who wants a magnetic clock right away rather than a budget model without magnets. If you're looking for the lightest possible dial turning, take a look at the Bearing version.
