FanXin The Light 3x3 Flagship UV

The Light is a 3x3 cube that FanXin released in autumn 2024 under its HuDong brand, which is why you will often see it online as the HuDong Light. FanXin The Light 3x3 Flagship UV is the middle of the three versions of this model. It has classic springs, a magnetic Ball-Core and a UV coating. We offer it in the stickerless bright colour scheme.

How it turns

Straight out of the box, the feel is clearly sandy, and many users describe it as "papery". After a few days of solving, the cube usually becomes smoother. It feels compact and solid in the hand, yet the layers turn lightly and quickly. The mechanism is flexible, and reviewers praise its corner cutting and well-performing middle layers, so some people also use the Light for blindfolded solving (BLD). The cube responds well to setup, so lubing noticeably changes its character.

Opinions on magnet strength vary from medium to strong. From the factory, the cube can be quite loose. At these settings you may get popping, and with very aggressive turning, occasional lockups. In practice, you just need to increase the compression or tighten the screws.

Magnets and adjustment

• 8-magnet Ball-Core: magnets in the core that work together with the edge magnets and stabilise the layers.
• Piece-to-piece magnets plus additional magnets in the feet of the corners and edges.
• Springs instead of MagLev, with the green adjustment system typical of the Flagship version.
• Dual adjustment: 8 compression levels and tension adjustment (tensioning) using screws. The magnet strength cannot be changed.
• UV coating: a glossy surface that gives your fingers better grip than regular plastic.

Standard, Flagship or Ultra?

The Light comes in three versions. The Standard has springs and no UV coating. The Flagship has the same springs but adds a UV finish. The Ultra combines UV with the MagLev system, in which the springs are replaced with repelling magnets. Turning is faster, but some people find it harder to control. The Flagship UV is the choice for you if you want more grip and prefer the predictable behaviour of springs.

Who is it for?

For cubers who want a modern magnetic cube with a Ball-Core but don't need the extensive adjustment options found on GAN or MoYu flagships. The Light suits people who like flexible cubes with noticeable magnets. It's also fine for beginners, as long as someone helps them tighten the loose factory settings.
