FanXin The Light 3x3 Standard

FanXin The Light 3x3 Standard is the base version of the Light magnetic 3x3 cube. FanXin released it in 2024 under the HuDong brand, so you will often find it listed as HuDong Light. The more expensive versions use the same design: magnets between the pieces, Ball-Core, and tension and compression adjustment. The Standard has matte plastic without a UV coating and blue adjustment parts. We offer it in the stickerless bright colour scheme.

How it turns

Reviews describe the cube as fast and flexible, with a feel that is more sandy than smooth. The magnets are strong. Some people need a few days to get used to them, but they align the layers well and keep the cube under control. The factory setup is fairly loose. If you prefer a more controllable feel, you can tighten the screws slightly and raise the compression by one or two levels. With very aggressive turning, occasional lockups can happen.

Magnets, Ball-Core and adjustment

• Magnets between the pieces, plus extra magnets between the feet of the corners and edges, which improve stability during fast turning.
• Ball-Core: magnets in the core that interact with the edges. They make the cube less likely to misalign layers and easier to control.
• Tension and compression adjustment: screws for tensioning and several compression levels that you can change without taking the cube apart.
• Classic springs instead of MagLev.

Standard, Flagship or Ultra?

All three versions share the same design and magnets. The Standard is matte and has the simplest finish. The Flagship has a glossy UV coating that gives more grip. The Ultra combines UV with the MagLev system: instead of springs it uses repelling magnets, so it turns faster and lighter. If UV and MagLev don't matter to you, the Standard version gives you the same cube character for less money.

Who is it for?

For cubers who like strong magnets and a flexible cube and want full adjustability at a reasonable price. It also works well as your first serious speed cube after a budget magnetic model. If you prefer weak magnets and very light turning, you may find The Light too "heavy" to turn.
