FanXin The Light is a flagship 3x3 cube that you'll more often see abroad as the HuDong Light, since HuDong is FanXin's speedcubing brand. The FanXin The Light 3x3 Ultra MagLev UV is the best-equipped version of this model. Instead of springs, it has a MagLev system, a UV-coated surface and a Ball-Core. The cube comes in a stickerless bright colour scheme and stands out with its round centers.

How it turns

Out of the box, The Light is fast and noticeably "clicky". The factory lube can be heavy and the settings loose, so it's worth spending a moment on setup right away. Users praise its corner cutting in both directions and how well it handles aggressive turning. They rate the magnets as medium to strong, and the auto-alignment snaps the layers into place quite clearly. At first the feel is rather papery and slightly scratchy. Once broken in and re-lubed, it becomes smooth.

Reviews also mention its weaker points. With inaccurate turning, popping can happen, and the center caps can fall out, e.g. after a drop. If your turning is less precise, you'll usually want to tighten the cube more and set a higher compression.

Magnets and adjustment

So the choice is mainly about the tension system and the finish. MagLev gives lighter, faster turns, while springs are slightly more controllable. The UV coating gives a glossy surface with better grip.

Who is it for?

For a cuber who wants a cube with a full set of magnets and MagLev, but doesn't want to pay for top GAN or MoYu models. It works best for someone who can do a basic setup and has fairly confident turning. The round, uniform centers are also handy for blindfolded solving. For a child's first cube, it's better to choose something simpler.
